Playing It Safe: Harris's Approach Worries Democrats About Her Campaign's Prospects

**Harris's Cautious Campaign Strategy Raises Concerns Among Democrats as Election Approaches**
As polling indicates a tightly contested presidential race, Vice President Kamala Harris is facing criticism for her risk-averse approach to campaigning. Some Democratic strategists and activists fear that her strategy has not fully harnessed the enthusiasm generated by her entry into the race this past July.
"They're trying to keep her away," Steve Shurtleff, a former Democratic speaker of the New Hampshire House of Representatives, said of the Harris campaign. "It's like seeing your favorite Hollywood actor and then they're on a talk show and they can't even speak.
“The president of the United States has to be able to be on their toes all the time and answer questions,” he added. “It’s so obvious she’s been avoiding the one-on-one interviews, and the voters deserve better.”
In response to these criticisms, Harris’s campaign aides assure that she will soon participate in more public forums designed to showcase her character and temperament. An interview with CBS News' “60 Minutes” is scheduled to air next week, and she is also expected to make appearances on late-night talk shows alongside her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.
As early voting begins in several states, the pressing question remains: Can Harris maintain her early momentum and resonate with undecided voters? Her recent campaign efforts have been disrupted due to the devastating impact of Hurricane Helene, further complicating her outreach at this critical juncture in the race.
